Summary

The Content Services Group is at the core of the SPINS Product Library, and is accountable for building, managing, growing and evolving all aspects of the SPINS Product Library through planning, researching, coding, goal setting and data management. The Content Team provides attribute expansion, custom coding, client customer service, industry thought leadership, consulting, trends and data insights, as well as management of strategic partnerships, including those with distributors, certifiers, retailers and content licensing partners.

The Natural Products Research Associate is a major contributor to the quality, accuracy and evolution of the SPINS Product Library. This inspired critical thinker builds on prior natural industry experience and is responsible for thoroughly researching products, ingredients, trends and issues related to the Natural, Organic and Specialty Products Industry. A problem-solving mentality combined with technical skill motivates this candidate to ensure data integrity and quality control across an expansive and dynamic database of product information.

The role requires experience in the Natural Products Industry (health food stores, distributors, manufacturers or other industry groups) and a broad and deep knowledge of the departments, brands, products and attributes that fuel the industry. A passion for health and wellness and a desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment will be important for success.

The Natural Products Research Associate reports to the Director, Product Library, is a full-time opportunity and will be based at SPINS Corporate Headquarters, local to the greater Chicago area.

Key Responsibilities
Acquire and audit product information on natural products utilizing manufacturers, SPINS partners, the Internet and other sources
Research and retrieve information on brands and specific products
Contact manufacturers for additional information, as needed
Research attributes of products (e.g. organic, fair-trade certified, etc.)
Maintain and update Product Library database with product information
Code outside of standard framework, as needed
Enhance, change and communicate status to the Content Team, Sales Team and Clients, as needed
Participate in natural products store tours to review merchandise and assist with new product launches
Contribute to new content initiatives
Provide commentary for SPINS Client Services Team reports (e.g. Business Overviews and Strategic Expansions)
Generate status reports on assigned tasks and project
Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Consumer Packaged Goods, health food stores or other industry groups
Advanced skills in MS Office (Internet Explorer, Outlook, Word, Excel and Access)
Strong oral, written, interpersonal, organizational and project management skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision, meeting specified deadlines and team standards
